A Look Into the Studio: Dyeing the Winter Collection
Share
This past September, I spent hours in the studio—or rather, in my parents yard—immersed in the rhythm of natural fibers and dyes. The process, simple and meditative, has become a quiet ritual, a way to connect more deeply with the materials that make up each garment. Laying the large meters of fabric to dry on the clothesline beneath the sprawling oak trees, I couldn't help but feel the pulse of the seasons shifting in every thread. The soft rustle of the leaves overhead and the fading warmth of the late summer sun seemed to echo the very essence of what I was creating.
Natural fibers and natural dyes have always drawn me in, as if they hold a quiet secret, a sort of alchemy that transforms not just the material, but the person who works with it. There's something deeply humbling in knowing that the final product will take on a life of its own, aging gracefully alongside its wearer. It’s a bond, a story that evolves. Over time, I’ve come to realize that our customers are just as fascinated by the idea that I create each garment by hand. The touch of the human hand in every piece, the intentionality of each stitch, each dye, each moment of care—is what truly sets this brand apart.
After our first season in Provence, I began to think more about how I could deepen this connection—the human touch in every detail of the clothing we create. That led me to textile, to the art of dyeing, and to the new batch of production that we are about to launch.
This winter collection is something I’m especially proud of. Each piece will be crafted with 100% natural fibers—silk, linen, cotton, and wool—and I’m excited to share that about 25% of the collection has been entirely dyed by my mother and me. It’s a labor of love, a creative process that ties us not just to the clothes we make, but to each other.
This season, I’ve been particularly captivated by the richness of black and white. The interplay of light and shadow, of absence and presence, feels essential. After all, we cannot truly appreciate color without its counterbalance. For this collection, I’ve focused on pomegranates, a natural dye that, when mixed with iron, yields the most captivating notes of black, gray, and brown. It’s a palette that speaks of quiet sophistication and earthy richness—tones that echo the transition from the fullness of summer to the bareness of winter.
The pomegranate, with its deep reds and purple-hued flesh, is a symbol of life, death, and rebirth. It holds within it the cycles of nature, and this season, I’ve poured those cycles into the fabric. From the vibrant hues of autumn to the stillness of winter, each piece tells a story of change, of movement, and of grounding.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be unveiling the full collection. For now, I’m happy to give you a first look at how this season's dyeing has taken shape—an intimate glimpse into the process that brings each garment to life.
